¹⁶ ‘Since the ·time [^Lday] I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel where a ·temple [^Lhouse] will be built ·for me [to honor my name; ^Lfor my name to be there]. But I have chosen David to ·lead [rule over] my people Israel.’

¹⁷ “My father David ·wanted [^Lhad it in his heart/mind] to build a ·temple [^Lhouse] for the Lord, the God of Israel. ¹⁸ But the Lord said to my father David, ‘It was good that you ·wanted [^Lhad it in your heart/mind] to build a ·temple [^Lhouse] for me.
